Andrew Vielkind is an Assistant Professor of Screen Studies at Ithaca College. His research interests include the history and theory of film technology, expanded cinema, global film culture, new media, and avant-garde & experimental cinema.

His current project investigates how the works of experimental filmmakers during the Cold War invoked technoscientific inquiries into visual perception, mathematics, linguistic anthropology, molecular biology, and computer programming.

He previously worked as a Mellon-Marron Research Consortium Fellow in the Photography Department at the Museum of Modern Art where he assisted with organizing the exhibition Wolfgang Tillmans: To look without fear.
